Okura Bush Walkway

3 January 2013

Unlike those of you in the South Island, we’ve had a fantastic few days of new-year weather (unless you’re one of my tomato plants, and then you’d be thinking the weather was far too hot and sunny with not enough rain!).

Yesterday Dave and I took advantage of our meteorological good fortune and traversed the Okura Bush Walkway. This is a great walk for a hot day, as 90% of it is under bush canopy. We walked from Haighs Access Road to Dacre Cottage (and back)–not on to Stillwater, as the return journey would be a bit far on a hot day. Walking comfortably and stopping quite a lot to take photos, it took about an hour and a half there, and an hour ten on the way back. (Fit people can run the round trip in under an hour–we saw several of them!)

Exercise was the winner on the day, but a few photographs ensued. Played with repeating and mirroring some images that had interesting patterns and shapes.
